• While I had left messages with all of my team that the first one to finish should come to my location, and had called ambulances, I wasn't sure that they would get there in time to help, and I had to get the two more seriously injured passengers to a hospital as soon as possible. I saw that an ambulance had arrived because one of the EMT's from the ambulance was waving at me, but the ambulance had no rescue equipment. I was able to get them on the radio, however, and told them my plan.
• After stabilizing the more seriously injured woman and child I instructed the first guy -- who was still lucid and could follow directions -- about what he should do when I got to the road above the ledge -- namely attach the rope I would throw to him to the make-shift harnesses I had put on the child, and after that the woman, and I would pull them up. After that I would return the harnesses for use with the other child, the other woman, the less-lucid man, and then him.
• Then "all" that I had to do was to climb up the slope up to the road and throw the rope down. I figured that I had about a 50-50 chance to accomplish that without falling into the raging torrent below, but it was the only option because the ledge was also starting to erode and soon all of us would fall in.
